Tématické zacílení článku je sice odlišné od obsahu projektu, nicméně jeho metodologická základna byla vytvořena na základě znalostí načerpaných v rámci práce na projektu financovaném GA UK. Proto je také dedikován mj. GA UK.

Abstract:
Rapidly changing working conditions in recent years, along with the need to reduce the costs of news production, require journalists to adapt. Our suggestion here is that many of the research methods for analysing journalists' work environments to date are no longer sufficient for capturing this ongoing change. In searching for new approaches to analysis of the journalistic environment, we decided to apply visual ethnography, a method not yet used in the Czech Republic and not much used in the world beyond. For our pilot study of Czech newsrooms, we worked with both photographs taken of the journalists involved in our project and photographs taken by our research team (photographs showed both journalists' working conditions and working processes). We then interviewed the journalists about the photographs and more widely about their working practices and conditions. This paper presents the results of the research but also considers the advantages and challenges of the visual ethnographic approach and its implementation in media environments.

Abstract:
There is no doubt, information and communication technologies (ICT) have established themselves as an axiomatical element of young people’s everyday leisure lifestyles and school-based experience. But what is the Czech teenagers’ relationship with ICT in their everyday lives? There is still little evidence in the Czech context. This paper will try to shed some light on this problematic based on the results of PhD research project. This research focused on teenaged members of two natural social groups during two and a half years using qualitative methods. The text will describe the character of the relationship between studied teenagers and ICT, the factors which determine it and the domains of interaction between ICT and teenagers and corresponding functions. ICT showed to be the tools empowering the teenagers to do what they had to do in the most convenient way for them, and what they as growing up creatures liked to do such as socializing with their peers. This way they enhanced teenagers‘ agency.
