Charles University in Prague supports the joint supervision of dissertations by two tutors (known under the French term cotutelle), which significantly enriches doctoral students’ research and helps to strengthen international contacts among researchers and research teams.
This specific form of PhD studies is implemented in collaboration with a foreign university on the basis of an individual agreement. The doctoral student is enrolled at both universities in accordance with the current legislation of the two countries; he/she is supervised by two tutors and spends a part of his/her studies abroad. On graduation, the student is awarded a joint PhD diploma and PhD degree title.
If you are interested in this form of cooperation with Charles University, please ask your home university about the specific conditions. You will need to find a suitable supervisor at Charles University, after which your home university should contact the relevant Charles University faculty with a proposal for an agreement on the joint supervision of your dissertation.
