WORKSHOP: Stages of academic writing The workshop will guide participants through the stages of writing of a scientific text, starting with a project and a structured outline and ending with final editing. Depending on the interest of the participants, we will focus more deeply on selected problems, e. g. how to develop effective writing habits, how to structure the text well and to convey the information clearly, how to follow the English academic writing style at the sentence level by wording sentences concisely and by formulating ideas precisely, how to separate generating of the text from editing, or how to overcome blocks to writing. Tutor: Mgr. Alena Andrlová Fidlerová, Ph.D. More information about tutor: Alena A. Fidlerová is a lecturer for the history of Czech language, Old Church Slavic, rhetoric, gender linguistics, and historical and contemporary stylistics. In addition to the history of Czech language, her research interests focus on the history of writing systems, history of language sciences, and history of rhetoric and stylistics, concentrating on Early Modern Period and the 1st half of the 19th century. She also teaches academic writing and practical stylistics courses. Besides bohemistics, she holds a master's degree in anglistics and biology.
